Issued in September 1986 and printed by both Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd. and British American Bank Note Company, the $2 note was the second in the new series and features a portrait of the Queen engraved by Henry S. Doubtfire of De La Rue, based on a photograph by Dennis Constantine.

With all the blogging we’ve been doing for Voices from the Engraver, you’d think we had nothing else on our exhibition plate. We do, actually, and it’s called CENTimental Journey. This temporary exhibition, hosted at the Canadian Museum of History, walks you through more than 150 years of the Canadian 1 cent piece.

We are coming up on a year since we closed the doors on the physical museum. During that year, we’ve worked very hard to make sure everybody knows that we are still a functioning museum and one that will be opening its doors again in a few years on a beautiful new space, with an expanded mission and mandate.

Broken Coins and Paper Promises explored the various functions of money and also illustrated what could happen in the absence of a central issuing authority like the Bank of Canada.

12 June 2009 - 10 January 2010 This exhibit provided a glimpse into the early Bank of Canada through the lens of a master.
For a limited time, the Museum proudly displayed a series of Karsh photographs documenting the early years of the Bank of Canada.

11 January - 11 August 2011
This was a youth-oriented exhibition about counterfeiting and how to tell the difference between real and counterfeit paper money.
